Looking for the perfect space to host a family reunion, banquet, birthday party, celebration of life or community gathering? The City of Daytona Beach is making it easier than ever to preview its available facilities before reserving them. Thanks to the new technology used by the city’s Audio-Visual team, a 3-D virtual tour of select city-owned facilities can be taken from the comfort of a computer, tablet or smartphone.
The city is using Matterport, an advanced 3-D data platform that creates a lifelike digital model of a space. Using a specialized 360-degree camera, Matterport captures high-resolution images and collects precise measurements of a room’s layout. These images and data are then processed into an interactive tour that allows viewers to “walk through” the space online—just as if you were there in person. This technology is widely used in the real estate industry to showcase homes and commercial properties.
To date, two city facilities have undergone the tedious process of creating a digital model: the Cherry Cultural & Educational Center and the Peninsula Club's Tea Room and Ball Room.
By offering immersive, photorealistic tours of our rental spaces, potential facility users can:
• Save time: View multiple venues without needing to travel from location to location.
• Plan ahead: Get a true feel for the size, layout and amenities before making a reservation.
• Feel confident: Make informed decisions about which space best suits your event.
From community centers to special event venues, the city’s goal is to make booking your next event as seamless as possible.
