Deric Feacher selected as Daytona Beach's next city manager 

At last Saturday's special meeting of the City Commission, finalist Deric Feacher was selected to be the next city manager for Daytona Beach. An employment agreement is being negotiated with an expected start date of June 1. 

Feacher, a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, has 20 years of senior level experience working in local government. He was selected after a national recruitment and selection process which involved feedback from community members.

Feacher lists his strengths as strategic planning, organizational management and development, collection problem solving, interpersonal relations, team building, community relations, fiscal management and communications. Join a city Advisory Board

Make a difference in the city by serving on an advisory board! The city has more than 20 boards, which offer residents a great way to learn more about their local government while making a difference in the community. The number of members and residency requirements vary per board and most boards meet monthly.

There are current openings on the following boards: Affordable Housing, Board of Adjustment, Beachside Redevelopment, Code Enforcement, Economic Development, Midtown Redevelopment, Peabody Auditorium and Planning. Learn more at www.codb.us/AdvisoryBoards.

Make sure to get a COVID-19 vaccine

In Florida anyone over the age of 40 is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, and beginning Monday, April 5, the eligibility requirement will lower to 18 years of age.

Your best protection from COVID-19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds in poorly ventilated spaces and washing your hands often.

Next City Commission meeting is Wednesday, April 7

The next meeting for the City Commission will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at City Hall located at 301 S. Ridgewood Ave.

The meeting agenda is online at https://bit.ly/3cKzqYf.


Items on the agenda include:

  • A contract that outlines the terms and conditions of new City Manager Deric Feacher’s employment agreement,
  • A resolution authorizing contracts for HVAC renovations, ceiling tiles replacement and other improvements to be completed at the Dickerson Center; and,
  • A public hearing regarding establishing the Tomoka North Community Development District, which is an approximately 176-acre area east of I-95, north of LPGA Boulevard and west of Williamson Boulevard.
