Food Truck Rally tonight in Downtown

Start the new year right at tonight's Food Truck Rally taking place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Magnolia Avenue from Beach Street to Palmetto Avenue! Enjoy live music, 12 food trucks and access to the many unique shops on Beach Street.

F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival this weekend  

F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival continues throughout the weekend for its 11th year of promoting “Literacy as a Legacy” at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd. in Daytona Beach. This engaging festival offers entertainment with film, book and author presentations, focus groups and music.

The F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival was developed to assist young inspiring authors with their marketing and to introduce them to veterans of the book business. For more information, visit www.freshbookfestivals.net.
 

Public events at Daytona Beach Police Department

Fallen Officer Monument Rededication Ceremony & Police Explorers Program Open House

Daytona Beach Police Department will host two public events next week at their headquarters, 129 Valor Blvd.
 

Fallen Officer Monument Rededication Ceremony
Wednesday, Jan. 12, 3 p.m.

The newly installed monument honors the 10 Daytona Beach police officers who have fallen in the line of duty. It replaces the former monument, which was damaged in 2020.
 

Police Explorers Program Open House
Thursday, Jan. 13, 6 p.m.

Interested young men and women, ages 14 to 18 years old, who want to learn about a career in law enforcement are invited to attend an open house to find out about Daytona Beach’s volunteer Police Explorers program. Requirements include a minimum of a 2.5 GPA  and parent or guardian permission. 

MLK Day events in Daytona Beach

Banners honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. displayed on ISB 

Street banners honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are adorning International Speedway Blvd. from Nova Road to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Featuring seven of his powerful quotes, the banners will be displayed throughout the month.

Mayor's Fitness Challenge

Registration open for upcoming Mayor's Fitness Challenge

Registration is open for the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge, which begins Tuesday, Jan. 18. The first session starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Midtown Community Center and includes a weigh-in as well as further information regarding the 10-week program. Registration is $20 per participant. Classes will be at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. every Saturday. There is a virtual option available for participants.

Johnny Mathis coming to Peabody Auditorium

Johnny Mathis coming to Daytona Beach Jan. 16

Legendary singer Johnny Mathis, celebrating 66 Years as a recording artist, will perform his greatest hits and personal favorites at the Peabody Auditorium with special guest Gary Mule Deer on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
 
Johnny Mathis is "The Voice of Romance," a sublime vocalist whose approach to pop music eclipses passing fads and trends. Mathis performs songs in an incredible variety of styles and categories -- from music composed for stage and film to golden era jazz standards, contemporary pop hits and holiday music.  
 
Tickets are available for purchase at www.Ticketmaster.com, or between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Peabody Box Office located at 600 Auditorium Blvd. Ticket prices range from $49 to $129, plus applicable surcharges. For more information, visit www.PeabodyAuditorium.org.
