Visit the Downtown Farmers’ Market Saturday morning for fresh produce, baked goods, seafood, crafts, dairy products and more. At this Saturday’s market, there will also be a Children’s Business Fair that showcases local young entrepreneurs’ businesses. The market opens at 7 a.m. and the Children’s Business Fair is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Downtown Farmers’ Market is on Magnolia Avenue between Beach Street and Palmetto Avenue.

Head to Daisy Stocking Park Sunday afternoon to purchase farm-fresh produce at the first Bethune’s Farmers’ Market!

The School of Health Sciences at Bethune-Cookman University is hosting the market, which will be open from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday. The market is part of the Food Security Project to provide access to healthy food for those who live in food deserts and is funded by the Florida Blue Foundation. Daisy Stocking Park is at 550 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. in Daytona Beach.

FDOT hosts meetings about road improvements

FDOT hosts meetings about road improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting public meetings next week so residents can learn more about proposed roadway improvements on two busy thoroughfares in the city.

  • There is a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ICI Center at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for residents to learn about the project to improve Clyde Morris Boulevard from Beville Road to north of Dunn Avenue. Safety enhancements for all modes of transportation are planned as part of the improvements, including adding a raised median with landscaping throughout the project limits to encourage slower driving speeds.
  • There is a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Volusia County Beach Safety Headquarters, for residents to learn about the project to improve International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92) from the Halifax River Bridge to S.R. A1A. The project intends to enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic operations along the busy thoroughfare.

Tickets on sale for performance featuring pianist Bruce Liu 

The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Peabody Auditorium.

Under the baton of Andrey Boreyko, artistic director and conductor, the performance is part of an exclusive six concert U.S. tour featuring Canadian pianist Bruce Liu. The award-winning pianist is riding high on his monumental 2021 win at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. During the final round of the competition, four million people worldwide tuned in to YouTube to watch the livestream of Liu’s performance of Chopin’s Concerto in E minor, Op. 11. Tickets for Liu’s recital March 1 in Warsaw marked the 212th anniversary of Chopin’s birth and were sold out in just seven minutes.
 
Tickets are $51, $69, $80 and $89 plus applicable surcharges. Community discounts are available for families, students, military and first responders and groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased online or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Peabody Box Office. Note, groups of 10 or more need to purchase tickets at the Peabody Box Office.

Banners recognizing local Black pioneers on display

Street banners recognizing local Black leaders are on display along International Speedway Boulevard between Nova Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard through the end of the month. The commemorative banners were made possible through a partnership between the city and the Midtown Community Development Corporation.
