Watch replay of July 20 City Commission meeting 

City commissioners met Wednesday night and people who were not able to attend can watch a replay of the meeting from the convenience of their personal computer or mobile device.

At the meeting, commissioners approved amendments to the Riverfront Esplanade’s lease agreement, the Biketoberfest 2022 Master Plan for Private Property and several rezonings; authorized electrical repairs at the Peninsula Club; established a Public Arts Program and set the tentative millage rate for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

City hosts Punt, Pass & Kick contest 

Young football fans will have the opportunity to showcase their skills when the City of Daytona Beach hosts a "Punt, Pass & Kick" competition Saturday, Aug. 20 at Daytona Stadium. The competition starts at 3 p.m. and is free to boys and girls ages 6-15. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m., local time, for the current year. Winners are based on distance and accuracy.

The City collaborates with veterans groups to recognize Purple Heart recipients 

Join us at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5 on the steps of City Hall, 301 R. Ridgewood Ave., for a National Purple Heart Day ceremony to honor the sacrifices of men and women who have been wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military.

The Purple Heart is the oldest military award still presented to American service members. National Purple Heart Day is Sunday, Aug. 7.
