Report clogged storm drains

Report clogged storm drains

We are forecast to have a high coverage of rain and storms through the weekend. This week Utilities staff cleaned 510 storm inlets, removed 23 yards of debris and responded to 19 stormwater concerns. Today Utilities staff cleaned additional storm inlets and checked areas prone to pond water.

Residents should keep all stormwater run-off areas around their home, including roadway gutters, free and clear of debris and obstructions. If residents see anyone dumping illegal contents into stormwater drains or notice flooding as a result of a potentially clogged drain, notify the city’s 24-hour dispatch center at (386) 671-8815 or report it online.

The public is invited to a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at City Hall (room 149B) to learn about the Lift Station 34 Replacement Project at 510 Ora St. The project includes the addition of an electrical/office building, construction of a wet well with four new submersible pumps (one serving as a dedicated standby during high-flow events) and installation of a new emergency generator in a sound-attenuating enclosure. The project also includes six-foot privacy fencing around the site, decorative landscaping in the building’s front yard, sidewalk replacement/widening along the site’s perimeter and demolition of the existing lift station.

Construction is expected to start early next year and take about 18 months to complete. Impacts to residents will include temporary traffic rerouting and noise typical of construction projects.
