The latest edition of the City Manager’s Update newsletter is here! Below are key highlights from this issue:

 City News & Developments

  • New Home Construction Trends – Daytona Beach saw a slight slowdown in residential construction in 2024, but the total construction value reached a record $389 million. 
  • City Auditor Recruitment – Resumes will be accepted through March 7. This position will report directly to the City Commission. 
  • Cybersecurity Preparedness – Senior staff recently participated in a cyberattack simulation to strengthen the city's defenses and readiness.
  • Changes to Bike Week Master Plan Guidelines – A community meeting was held this week to discuss potential updates to parking, vendor policies and fees.
  • City Manager participated in the Florida Chamber’s 2025 Legislative Fly-in – event provided opportunities to discuss collaborative projects with key decision makers. 

 City Projects in Progress

  • Sunnyland Press Box Tower – the foundation for the two-story structure is being formed.
  • Fire Station No. 1 – Construction is progressing, with tilt walls set to be raised soon.
  • Jackie Robinson Ballpark Upgrades – Demolition of the tennis courts is underway to make room for future player facilities, community spaces and museum additions.

  • Midtown Music Concert Series – Feb. 22, featuring BlueMoon Jazz Fusion at 7 p.m.
  • F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival – Feb. 20-22
  • Melanin Too Rich Festival – Saturday, Feb. 22 at Daisy Stocking Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 84th Daytona Beach Bike Week 2025 – Kicks off Feb. 28 through March 9.
  • Registration open for Daytona Beach University Citizens Academy 
  • Crab & Seafood Festival – April 26, offering food, vendors and live music.
  • Easter Beach Run – Saturday, April 19 at 7:30 a.m.
