A new playground is coming to Breakers Oceanfront Park to replace the park’s nearly 20-year-old splash pad, which has become increasingly difficult to keep open and operating reliably due to the harsh oceanfront environment. The new playground will better support consistent, year-round play for children ages 2–12, while preserving the original intent of providing a dedicated children’s play area at this popular beachside location near the Daytona Beach Pier and boardwalk area. The project was awarded a $425,000 grant from the Daytona Beach Racing and Recreational Facilities District. The city’s request ranked third out of 14 submissions in this grant cycle.
