Knox Box
A key box (Knox Box) is required for all new construction and up-fits for commercial and multi-family properties with a fire sprinkler system, fire alarm or any special situation deemed necessary by the fire department per Florida Fire Prevention Code 18.2.2

Ordering a Knox Box

  • Visit the Knox Website  
  • Select Products 
  • Select your State and Enter "Daytona Beach", select Daytona Beach Fire Dept 
  • Select the appropriate box and complete order 
  • Orders will be reviewed by DBFD Fire Safety Unit and then shipped upon approval.

Should be mounted 5 ft. from the floor to center of box

Installation

Once the (Knox Box, Gate/key switch, and padlock) is received and installed, contact the Fire Safety Unit to schedule the key lock up. All keys and access devices must be in place prior to receiving a Certificate of Occupancy for the structure. 

Key box maintenance: The operator of the building shall immediately notify the fire safety unit and provide the new key when a lock is changed or re-keyed. The key to such lock shall be secured in the key box.
